Dr. Soyoun Im, Northwell Health-Lenox Hill Hospital
2023 Elizabeth Rohatyn Award Recipient
Cyndie Soyoun Im, M.D. is a primary care physician, medical educator and an advocate for her patients. Her mission for the underserved community health began early in her medical training, working as a clinical volunteer and serving on the administrative board for a student-run free clinic in the South Bronx. Her two years of residency training at St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center further prepared her for providing primary care to individuals who are homeless in various New York City shelters and domestic violence shelters, as well as to individuals living in SRO housing. As a chief resident at Lenox Hill Hospital, where she completed her training after St. Vincent's closure, she created homeless shelter outreach activities for her residents to increase their awareness of barriers to medical care.

As faculty, Dr. Im has continued her efforts by instituting a formal residency curriculum on underserved community medicine, funded by Zucker School of Medicine and The Auxiliary of Lenox Hill Hospital. Through this program, she and her intercollegiate team at Northwell Health and Lenox Hill Neighborhood House have collaborated successfully to increase and maintain access to medical care to the clients at our Women's Mental Health Shelter at the Park Avenue Armory, providing screening, routine primary care, acute and chronic medical treatments, and supporting them through stages of rehabilitation for housing as well as their health.

Dr. Im is an associate program director for medicine residency at Lenox Hill Hospital, acting division chief of the medicine department and founding member of the Elizabeth Blackwell Society for Mentorship for Women Physicians, and currently serves on Northwell Health's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Council. A long-time New Yorker and an alumna of Columbia College, Manhattan School of Music, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, she enjoys classical music, cooking and supporting local community organizations in her new neighborhood in Jersey City with her husband and their daughter.

2023 Elizabeth Rohatyn Award Recipient
Natasha Pickowicz is a New York City–based chef and writer and a three-time James Beard Foundation Award finalist. Her new book, More Than Cake: 100 Baking Recipes Built for Pleasure and Community, published by Artisan Books, has been named a Best New Cookbook of Spring 2023 by Food & Wine, Eater, Bon Appétit and more.

Much of her pastry work explores the relationship between baking and social justice, including ongoing collaborations with Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, a partnership which began in 2018 when Natasha was Executive Pastry Chef at Flora Bar at the Met Breuer Museum and organized baking workshops to raise funds and awareness for our community. Natasha continued her advocacy and activism throughout the pandemic by raising money for communities in need as she hosted pop-up dinners and created recipes that celebrated New York City’s rich diversity, while also launching online workshops with proceeds donated to the Neighborhood House. Through her efforts, Natasha has raised nearly $10,000 in support of our work and thousands more for others in need.

Currently, Natasha runs the pastry pop-up called Never Ending Taste, which has been held at NYC’s Superiority Burger, Brooklyn’s the Four Horsemen, the American-Vietnamese bakery Bạn Bè, the Taiwanese tearoom T. Company, Los Angeles’s Kismet and the legendary Chino Farm in Rancho Santa Fe, California.

Natasha’s recipes and writing have been published in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Bon Appétit, Saveur, Food & Wine, New York magazine, Cherry Bombe and many other publications. Follow her on Instagram at @natashapickowicz.
