Cilla Owens
When:
Sunday, February 12, 2017
Where: Lenox Hill Neighborhood House Auditorium

2017 marks Ella Fitzgerald’s Centennial Year. February’s performance by Cilla Owens highlights selections from The Complete Ella Fitzgerald Song Books, a series of eight studio albums released between 1956 and 1964. These recordings include classics penned by such masters as Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, The Gershwins, Jerome Kern and Irving Berlin.

New York native Cilla Owens has been called “as smooth as Nancy Wilson, as authoritative as Sarah Vaughan, and as informed as Carmen McRae” (JazzTimes). She has performed in Germany, Poland, Switzerland and the Caribbean. Cilla can be seen singing and swinging with saxophonist Paul Shapiro’s Ribs and Brisket Revue at various venues in the tri-state area. She is the director of the Hunter College Jazz Vocal Workshop and the Jazzvox Ensemble and can be heard on the CDs ‘Tis What It Is and Essen. Click here for more information!
