Our RealArts Afterschool offers age-appropriate arts education including theater arts, music, visual arts, dance and photography for children ages five through nine.
Afterschool is offered Monday through Friday 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. and operates in two sessions: the Fall/Winter Session and the Winter/Spring Session. The program is offered five days a week, with registration options of Monday/Wednesday/Friday and Tuesday/Thursday. Many families send their children for all five days.
In addition to the arts, RealArts Afterschool activities include aquatics (all of our campers learn to swim), recreational and cultural activities and live performance experiences. We serve a healthy snack when children arrive and, weather and daylight permitting, the children play outside on our newly renovated Environmental Playscape, an incredible roof-top space with multiple planted environments and man-made structures that encourages exploration and experiential learning. Each of our two annual session incorporate a theme into students' learning. Our Fall/Winter students are learning about Modern Art, with a focus on thinking outside the box and learning about the history of avant-garde art. The theme for the Winter/Spring session will be Avant-Garde Art and how it’s used in contemporary and pop culture. Our teachers structure the daily curriculum around these themes, designing field trips, visual arts activities and performances that integrate the themes in a way that can be creatively explored with a focus on modern and contemporary dance.
