Housing & Homeless Services Department not only assists homeless individuals to
move off the streets and into housing, but also supports formerly homeless
people as they face the challenges associated with maintaining their new
homes and lives.

Homeless Outreach Project
Social workers from the Homeless Outreach Project make contact with more
than 1,000 homeless people on the Upper East Side each year, helping them
to obtain food, clothing, social services and shelter. Through the Project’s
efforts, approximately 150 people each year move from the streets and
parks into shelters, transitional programs, detoxification centers or

The Women’s Mental Health Shelter at the Park Avenue Armory
Every day of the year, 84 homeless
women find a hot meal, a warm bed and a range of social and health services
at the Women’s Mental Health Shelter at the Park Avenue Armory. Located on
Park Avenue at 67th Street, the shelter serves women over 45 years old with mental illness. For more information, call 212 570-1461.
Casa Mutua
For the 54 formerly homeless adults who live there, Casa Mutua provides
a strong sense of community and stability. Lenox Hill Neighborhood House
runs this permanent supportive housing residence on East 102nd Street that provides health, mental health and social services for
its tenants, many of whom have histories of mental illness.

East Side Homeless Network
In collaboration with Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter and Yorkville
Common Pantry, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House operates the East Side Homeless
Network to help clients navigate the complex path from homelessness to
housing. By working together, the agencies better support individuals
at every step along the way while also avoiding duplication of services.
