How Your Donation Helps

Since 1894, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House has been committed to improving the quality of life for all individuals and families who live, work or go to school on the East Side of Manhattan. Each year 200 dedicated staff members and 600 committed volunteers work tirelessly to make a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors. Our clients include older adults, homeless and formerly homeless adults, children and families, recent immigrants, disabled persons and thousands more.

In order to maintain our first-rate programs and highest standard of effectiveness, we must raise more than $5,000,000 in private funds every year. Donations help support programs like our award-winning Early Childhood Center, Women’s Mental Health Shelter in the Park Avenue Armory, two Senior Centers, Supportive Housing Residence, legal services, Summer Camp, After School Program and much, much more.

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House was founded in 1894 as a free kindergarten for the children of immigrant factory workers and was one of the first settlement houses in the nation. Tax-deductible gifts to the Annual Fund will help teach a child to read, assist a senior to avoid eviction or help a new immigrant to learn English so they can get employed.
